Tips on Using this Holiday Promotional Planner in Spanish

The intent of the Holiday planner in Spanish is to provide marketing material tools and templates on this promotional program, that you can tailor and distribute to fit the needs of your local Hispanic community when partnering with other states, communities and organizations all across the country.

This planner includes both enforcement and social norming messaging and templates from which to choose. It is imperative that Spanish-Dominant Latinos in the U.S. are educated on all issues regarding impaired driving—the laws, repercussions, and social norming behavior.

Many times newly arrived Hispanics distrust police in this country, and their perception of law enforcement is based on the fear of racial profiling, as well as how they may have been treated in their native countries by these groups. These media tools are valuable communication tactics to inform them of laws and behaviors that apply to anyone and everyone who breaks the law in the U.S., and not just them as immigrants

The earned media pieces —found on the English planner on this site— have all been culturally-adapted and translated into Spanish. The copy on all posters below has been translated to English for your knowledge. Please find more information about the Hispanic population in your area by visiting www.census.gov.

You may choose to use the enforcement section of this planner depending on whether or not your promotional campaign will be combined with increased and highly-visible enforcement during the Holiday season. Please select, tailor and distribute the version of this planner that best fits your local objectives.

The NHTSA core Hispanic target is men, ages 18-34, recent immigrant/newly arrived, or non-acculturated into the American mainstream. The best way to reach this target is through their community organizations, businesses, churches and local hang-outs. With language as a barrier, as well as a mistrust of authority, the best way to ensure that your message is reaching them is to always connect with them where they live, work, play and pray.
